Kilmarnock P4-5 mini section were at Irvine on Saturday, along with a mixed Hillhead Jordanhill/Paisley team. Again another great turnout of 14 boys, meant we were able to field two teams. The first game was against the mixed Hills/Paisley team, and to give as much rugby time to all, a 9 a-side game was played, with Logan Hendrie and Alex McDonald playing for the opposition. This was a very evenly contested game which finished 5-5 with scores from Thomas Dunlop (3) Bailey Speir and Fraser Sands.

In the second match, Kilmarnock were meant to play the hosts Irvine, who had retired to the clubhouse due to reduced numbers, so two 10 a-side games were arranged against Hills/Paisley, with the Kilmarnock boys split up into 2 mixed P4-5 teams, the luxury of having a good turnout of players!

In one match, Kilmarnock lost 6-2 with scores from Fraser Sands and Ben McKellor, while in the other game, Kilmarnock ran out winners 5-3, with scores from Thomas Dunlop (4) and Callum Stewart.

The games were all very competitive with both teams tackling, running and supporting well. We have been trying to encourage the boys to offload (pass the ball) when being tackled, and there were some good phases of play where this happened which resulted in scores. The boys have all shown an improvement over the last few games and they should all be proud of the performances.
