Kilmarnock P4-5 Mini Section kicked off their season with a home game against Ardrossan Mini Section at Bellsland on Sunday the 6th September.
Both teams arrived with good numbers, and being the first competitive match for many of the P4's, two games were arranged involving mixed P4-5 age groups.
In the first game, both sides played some great running rugby and as the game progressed, it was encouraging to see the support play, passing, running and some good tackling, especially from the Kilmarnock players. This is very encouraging for the season ahead. Captained by Thomas Dunlop, the game was very evenly matched and ended 7-7 with Kilmarnock scoring through Thomas Dunlop (3) Ben McKellar, Dennis, Logan and Bailey.
The second match was played in the same spirit although both teams started to suffer a little bit with the heat and some tiredness, which is understandable. Ardrossan won this match 7-3 although Kilmanrock, captained this time by Euan Ross, were very much in the game and gave a good account for themselves with tries from Thomas Dunlop (2) and Logan.
Well done to all the players and look forward to seeing you at training on Wednesday night.
A big thank you to Ardrossan for coming through and to all the parents who came along to support. Also huge thank you to our parents who helped in the kitchen.
