Cambuslang U13 25 v 8 Kilamrnock U13

After a strong performance the week prior Kilmarnock U13's rolled up to Cambuslang in good spirits, albeit in rather seasonal weather.
As it was a friendly Cambuslang asked if they could field two overage players, and as both teams had large numbers it was agreed to also play 15 aside as opposed to the 13 aside as per age grade.

A closely contested first period saw both teams evenly matched, with Cambuslang edging ahead by two tries, but when the second period started the winds picked up and Cambuslang took full advantage, running in a three tries as the Kilmarnock team faltered.

A rousing speach saw the Kilamrnock boys run out with high heads for the final third, and with the wind and hail settling down they ran in two great tries, both from Cory McLean, one an individual run and the other through some good teamwork, although Cambuslang also managed to run in two tries.

A tough game for the Kilmarnock team who were giving a debut to Max Cardoo, but after a faltering second period they continued to try and play rugby in tough conditions, and it eventually clicked and they played, and competed, well in the final third.

Great to see so many players, and parents turn out in a typically Scottish January day, not many teams are able to practice star jumps to keep warm whilst playing at the same time!
