Kilmarnock arrived to play GHA with 16 players, 3 of whom were playing their first game.
Playing 3x 15 minute games, Kilmarnock were by no means second best, being undone by some handling errors, missed tackles and poor rucking.
The attacking threat Kilmarnock pose and the ability players have to see gaps and attack at pace is a delight to watch. Kerr, Andrew, Thomas and Matthew (x2) ran in some fine scores with Thomas (x2) and Lawrie converting.
Well done to Sami, Lewis and Matthew in their first match today , all 3 played well, with Matthew having added bonus of scoring ?
At this age level, the focus is on encouraging running attacking rugby at every opportunity, which includes being able to take quick restarts or penalties, often when the opposition are not defensively ready. It’s a pity that time and again this rule is not applied equitably...as well as clamping down on high tackles!
Next week we welcome Cumnock to Bellsland ?
