It was cold, wet and windy when Cumbernauld came to call..

With Kilmarnock coming into this game on the back of 2 good wins, the coaches were hoping to see the good run of play continue. The coaches decided on 3, 20 minute periods of play.
With the heavens opening just prior to the start the first period the boys were cold and wet and the ball slippery. A knock on in the early phase of Cumbernaulds' first possession was scooped up by the Kilmarnock pack and the ball spun wide for the first score.
this set the style for the first period, a combination of Cumbernauld errors, aggressive Kilmarnock tackling and finishing meant that Kilmarnock were 17-0 ahead at the first break.
The coaches swapped some players about, with some Kilmarnock boys joining the Cumbernauld side who had turned up a few players short.
The rain relented, as the period got under way. Again Kilmarnock were stronger in the tackle and ruck situations with this years S1's showing up well. Ball retention was still a problem for Cumbernauld and the strong running Kilmarnock backs took full advantage.
When the ref blew for the end of the period the score stood at Kilmarnock 36 - 0 Cumbernauld.
The coaches rang the position changes for the final time and the game resumed in light rain.
With the ball resembling a bar of soap, both sides found handling tricky. However the experience of the Kilmarnock side was the difference. Their ability to use the ball and to get the ball to their wingers the tricky conditions brought smiles to the coaches faces.
When the ref blew for full time the score stood at Kilmarnock 51-0 Cumbernauld.
It was good to see the Kilmarnock players having the confidence to throw the ball about in poor weather conditions.
