Kilmarnock U18’s welcomed a mixed Allan Glens/Drumpellier side to Bellsland in the West Region Cup.
After a good weeks training Killie turned up ready to make amends for last weeks road trip however had To make some changes to the starting team and game plan, as our visitors arrived with 14 players due to late call offs - the joys of games over a 6N weekend.
Our visitors deserve plenty of credit, with flashes of what could have been had they had a full team to pick from, however Kilmarnock proved too strong to see out the game 52-15.
What was disappointing from this young Kilmarnock team was a lack of focus in the second half that allowed Glens/Drumpellier to score two well taken try’s - and even more disappointing the yellow card for some overenthusiastic language in front of the ref.
It’s important the team keeps focussed for the whole game and keep their discipline - a point that will be emphasised at training this week.
Kilmarnock’s try scorers were Andrew Bruce (x2) Logan Hendrie (x2) Andrew Bryson, Daniel Christie, Shaun Hillis and Thomas Dunlop . Thomas also kicked 3 conversions with Frazer Sands also slotting 3.
It was a welcome to action for Cory McLean , and a man of the match for Jackson Cuthbert.
