Kilmarnock U18s 52-v- 42 Hamilton/Strathaven

Kilmarnock U18s welcomed Hamilton/Strathaven to Bellsland in the West Youth Cup.

In what was the 4th meeting of the sides this season, and having beaten the opposition twice in earlier games, the home side were keen to make amends for the loss suffered on the road the last time they met.

This was a very competitive and physical game, however from the start, Kilmarnock showed their attacking intent and took the game to Hamilton/Strathaven.

There were errors on both sides in passing or through dropped balls, however Kilmarnock were always on top a game that finished 52-42.

As with the game via Allan Glens/Drumpellier, the young Killie team had a tendency to switch with off from the restart, which the opposition capitalised on more than once and allowed the opposition back in to the game. Additionally it was disappointing to receive a successive yellow card in the last 5 minutes of the game, with a player coming in from the side to the win the ball at the breakdown on there own 5 meter line, with the opposition scoring from the resulting penalty.

These are things that the team will undoubtedly learn from and will only make them stronger going forward.

Yesterday try scorers were Daniel Christie (x3), Frazer Sands (x2) Logan Hendrie (x2) and Andrew Bruce, with Thomas Dunlop scoring 6 from 8 conversions…though should have been 7.

There were a lot of strong performances, however MoM was shared between Frazer Sands and Logan Hendrie.
