Cumnock/Ardrossan U18s 15-v-53 Kilmarnock U18s

Kilmarnock U18s travelled to Cumnock for their first local derby of the season in their friendly against a mixed Cumnock/Ardrossan team.

As you would expect from a derby, the first half was a feisty one, with a yellow card shown to Kilmarnock’s Daniel Christie, who showed some indiscipline in rising to some baiting from the opposition. There were also a few meaty tackles from both sides, as well as a few late hits on the Kilmarnock 10, which went unchecked, resulting in Thomas Dunlop going off after 15 minutes in the first half.

Kilmarnock started the second half in a determined manner, despite being down to 14 men, their physicality with ball in hand, led by Logan Hendrie, as well as fitness gained from summer sessions, started to tell and was the difference between the teams. Following his 10 mins in the sin bun, Daniel retuned to the game and with a full squad back on the pitch, Kilmarnock ran out comfortable winners 15 v 53.
