Kilmarnock U14s travelled to the Costa del Troon on Sunday, to face Marr U14s, a team that play 3 conferences higher.
Although the result favoured our hosts, this young Kilmarnock side proved yet again what a fantastic and talented team they are, as well as providing a glimpse of the team they could become!
This game went to the wire...a last kick of the game conversion in front of the posts, which Marr did not miss, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Playing 3 conferences lower, Kilmarnock outplayed their hosts for the majority of the game...with a tremendous defence, which turned into devastating attack time and again. A solid scrum, destructive rucking and composure on the ball, the rugby on display, from both teams made for a truly enjoyable and exciting game.
Kilmarnock’s points came via tries by Laughlan Whitelaw (x2), Matthew Penrose (x2), Brayden Dean (x2) and Lennon Murray, alongside a 100% conversion rate from Thomas Dunlop.
All 23 players deserve the plaudits for their efforts on Sunday, however Lennon Murray was our man of the match.
Teamwork, self belief and encouragement to be the best they can be...the future of Kilmarnock RFC is certainly bright!
