Thunder Clouds at the starting whistle set the tone for the rest of the match.

Following an eight week break from cup action between the festive period and cancelled games, Kilmarnock U15's opened their 2020 account with a tough fixture to Ayr RFC at Bellsland. Ayr RFC are perhaps one of the best clubs in the West of Scotland.
The U15's had a good squad to select from, with some U14 players stepping up to help out. A reshuffle saw Conner McNulty slot in at inside centre with Laughlan Whitelaw taking up the position of fly half (Thomas Logan unavailable) and Matthew Penrose at Fullback.

Kilmarnock made heavy work of it in difficult conditions, which made for an untidy contest against Ayr. Conditions made it hard for both teams to stay on their feet at times.

Kilmarnock started strong with a couple of strong forays into Ayr territory but the boys just didn't seem to make good use of the spaces while Ayr did, using their backs at every opportunity!
Kilmarnock were strong in the ruck and in the scrum, winning the majority but not capitalising in the wins.

It was a hard fought match against our appointments, the score line doesn't reflect the physicality of the Kilmarnock side.

The U15's lack luster tackling was inevitably their downfall, but that is not down to their lack of commitment and contact. The boys don't runaway from contact, they launch themselves into the commitment.
Big thank you to the U14's players who stepped up today. Matthew Penrose & Laughlan Whitelaw.
