So the U15's game against the lovely.. gentlemanly team Waysiders Drumpellier was cancelled due to a lack of numbers. Our Midi Convenor arranged a 'friendly' against local team Marr.
We had a great turnout from the squad today and even had some of the eligible U16's playing for us today.
The 1st try for Marr came as a result of a knock on that the referee choose not to penalize Marr on ... this set the precedence for the rest of the match! Plonker!!!
The game was very physical, with hard hitting tackles with unfortunately some dangerous tackling which again the referee didn't pick up on!? (see video!) Our coaches tried to talk to the referee about this but were shut down.
Coaches Dougal & Sandy felt the game was hard fought, and nice to see the boys staying with it against a really well drilled school side for the full match.
Things to take away from today's game: fitness, spreading out, supporting the ball carrier and general boxing skills ;-)
Coach Graham McCue felt the boys need to work on consistency and that there were some good passages of play. It was good to see some of the boys working on the breakdowns he's been working on with them for the past two weeks!
