Kilmarnock were away this week to Ardrossan Rugby Club. The U15's fielded a full team plus one reserve. Robbie Sanderson (Grange Rugby) a recent addition to the team was there for his first game.
With the loss of some of our key players today due to Ice Hockey Trials and illness, our coaches had to reshuffle some of our players into different positions.
As special mention for Connor Paton who stepped into the role of scrum half. Well done Connor!
Ardrossan had only 13 players so we decided to play down to 13 giving us 3 in reserve.
The game began well with Kilmarnock using their pace against a strong powerful Ardrossan side. Sadly though our tackling began to let us down, lots of missed tackles, jumper pulling rather than going around the legs.. letting Ardrossan's points to mount up. In saying that, Callum Campbell consistently tackled well helping to fill the gap by our missing Fullback Conner McNulty. Luke Milligan also put in some great tackles!
Kilmarnock suffered some injuries which meant that our reserves were fielded to cover positions rather than relieve tired players.
Two points to take away today -
Today sadly saw a Killie side which seemed on the whole too tired to turn on their A game. There is always next week boys!
