The Penguins continued on their winning ways with a good away win at Carrick. Killie kicked off playing into the stiff breeze the ball failed to go 10 which gave Carrick a good attacking option on the halfway line. Carrick made their way up the pitch and Killie were penalized on their own 22, the ball was stroked between the post to give Carrick a 3 point lead after only 6 minutes. Kilmarnock responded immediately Carrick spilled the kick off, from the resulting scrum a training ground move proved decisive allowing Graham McCue to cross the line wide out on the right, the conversion was missed leaving Killie in front by 5 points to 3. Killie continue to push forward and it was no surprise when scrum half Stewart Lauder crossed to increase the lead 10 points to 3 after 10 minutes. Carrick upped their game and their efforts were awarded with a converted try after 20 minute to tie the scores up at 10 point all.
This score spurred Killie on and two quick tries in the space of 8 minute by Greg Andrew and Frazer Corrance gave Killie a 10 point lead 20 points to 10 with 10 minute of the half still to play. On the stroke of half time young Victor Murray burst through a couple of tackles to complete the first half scoring, 25 point to 10 to the visitors at the break.
The teams turned round with Killie now having the strong breeze at their backs and increased their lead after 2 minutes of the 2nd half Liam Fowler on hand to finish off a good move, 25 -10. From the kickoff Killie pilled on the pressure and this time it was President John Browns turn to cross the line increasing Killie's lead to 35 points to 10. Carrick were not to be outdone and responded with a fine try of their own on 52 minutes the try was converted narrowing the gap to 35 -17. Killie came storming back and produced another score this time for flanker Stuart McEwan converted by Graham McCue stretching Killie's lead to 42 points to 17 with 18 minutes still to play. Killie were keeping Carrick in the game with needless penalties and it was no surprise when Carrick crossed the try line again which was dually converted 42 -24 with 4 minutes still to play. Killie were not to be outdone and finished the game off with a try by Fraser Corrance, Graham McCue knocked over the conversion to complete the scoring giving Killie a comfortable 49 point to 24 win.
Man of the Match was awarded to Captain Marco Castelli
