News from the clubhouse

Bellsland Banter March 2024

Dear members, I am trying to revive an ancient tradition at the club of having a monthly newsletter.

My first effort will be for the events of March 2024 and what was going on in and around the club. I will leave the match reports to better scribes than I.
March saw the launch of some exciting new initiatives for the club with the formation of our coaching roundtable put together to formulate a development path for our players from the youngest to the oldest (take a bow Mr Moon!).
We also circulated a questionnaire to members looking for their views on what they think should be the clubs focus for the next 3 years. This was organised by the SRU, and they will meet with the committee in April to share with us the results and recommendations for the club sustainability plan.
Another much welcome initiative at Bellsland was the ‘Keep Bellsland Tidy’ group, set up by Stuart Muirhead and with the support of club members, groups of about ten volunteers have been giving up a couple of hours a week to tidy up round the grounds. I am sure everyone while have noticed the spruce up of the drive, the improvement in the car park surface, the disappearance of the whin bushes, the disappearance of rubbish and scrap metal. This is a group who take pride in the club, and we should all thing for the work they have done.
This is a long-term project as our ground will always need TLC. A couple of hours a week once in a while is something most can do at some point. Put your hand up and volunteer for one of the sessions, be a part of it.
We have had some notable events for the junior section in March with Thomas Dunlop and Logan Hendrie selected for Glasgow U18s and Josh Provan selected for Glasgow U16s in their respective district championships. Well done lads, the whole club is proud of you.
The mini section was given the chance to showcase their talents at Scotstoun at the Glasgow v Cardiff URC match. I hope they all enjoyed the experience, despite the weather.
Finally, a wee note on a couple of playing events in April. The u18s are hoping to round off their campaign with a win in the final of the West Club Championship down at Galloway on the 20th of April 2024. On the same day the seniors will be finishing off their campaign with an away game to Oban. There will be a bus for that game and seats are available for supporters. Please contact one of the committee if you would like to travel. In flight entertainment will be provided by Mr William Barnaby and whatever motley crew he can assemble on time!
There will be plenty more to report on for April. with hopefully updates on the development of the ground and events taking place and maybe even some silverware from the young team.
If you have any items you wish to mention or photos etc, please drop me a line.
Yours in KRFC
Ivor Frater
